FUSION NEWS

Fusion Choir

The audience was blown away by the sound and professionalism of this group in the November show so we have decided to continue it in January with a view to putting on a concert in a smaller venue at some point in 2019. We will begin again on Tuesday 15th January at Alcombe Methodist church Hall 7-8pm and will continue with this rehearsal time during term time. David Pitts is going to work with Sarah-Jane as a rehearsal accompanist and assistant Musical Director which is very exciting. We are keen to welcome new members so please do come along to the first rehearsal if you are interested. The choir is open to year 7 upwards at the moment (age 11/12 upwards). Anyone younger than this who is keen to be involved with a choir and attends Minehead Middle School please speak to Sarah-Jane about joining the Minehead Middle School Choir who are singing in a competition in February.

Post Show DVD screening and PARTY!!

Saturday 2nd February 6-10pm at The Regal Theatre, Minehead. This will be a “Black tie”event so please dress up smart. The screening will start promptly at 6.30pm followed by food and fun in the bar.

This would be a good opportunity for new and past members to come along and meet us and share in the fun so do let us know via the Facebook page/email if you’d like to come and you weren’t in the show.

Half Term Youth Theatre Festival in South Petherton

We are very excited to announce that we are planning to take a Fusion group to a new Youth Theatre Festival that is happening on 20th and 21st February 2019 in South Petherton. To prepare for this Nick Brace from Actiontrack is going to come and work with Fusion to prepare something to take to the Festival to show as a work in progress. We’re not exactly sure what form this will take as it will be something that the group will devise themselves with Nick’s guidance. This is something completely new for Fusion and we are hoping that it will help develop many skills needed for the stage productions that we do. There will be an emphasis on group work and developing devising and acting skills as well as incorporating music and movement/dance so we really hope there will be something for anyone who wants to get involved. We’ll also get to be involved in workshops at the Festival in South Petherton as well as see what other groups are up to. Please can you email Lyn as soon as possible on lynandbob@aol.com to sign up for this so we can arrange transport.

The dates for this are:

  • Thursday 7th February 6-9pm – Workshop with Nick Brace at Alcombe Methodist Church

  • Saturday 16th February – 10am-5pm – Workshop with Nick Brace at Alcombe Methodist Church

  • Wednesday 20th February – Full day at the Youth Theatre Festival in South Petherton (Transport will be provided)

  • Thursday 21st February – Youth Festival continues but we probably won’t be involved unless people want to make their own way there.

This event will be subsidised from Fusion and other sources but we will be asking for £30 per participant to cover the whole project including travel. As usual please speak to Lorraine, Sarah-Jane or Lyn if you would like to be involved but cost is an issue.

Fusion Classes

We are hoping to run some more Fusion classes on Thursday evenings after half term but will let you know more about this at the party on the 2nd February.
